Hopes Alive Poverty Solutions (HAPS) helps people living in extreme poverty build a better future through business education, micro-grants, mentorship, and opportunity.
We don’t just give a handout. We help someone start.
Why we start with a business
In many of the communities HAPS serves, a small amount of startup capital can create a life-changing opportunity. Not because the money is large, but because it arrives with training and someone to walk alongside the person starting out.
Through HAPS Business School, entrepreneurs learn basic business skills and can qualify for a $50–$250 micro-grant to start real businesses — chicken farms, produce stands, food carts, clothing businesses, agriculture, livestock, transportation, washing services, and market businesses.

Our mission doesn’t stop with the first entrepreneur. Each HAPS micro-grant recipient commits to helping three other people work toward starting businesses over the following three years.
Local Hope Ambassadors help provide mentorship, accountability, and progress reporting, so the commitment is tracked rather than assumed.
